About Vanessa

Ready to sing

Vanessa
was born in a minister’s family, where she came prepared to sing a solo for every church service from the time she was 5 years old. From an early age, Vanessa has had a deep commitment to Christ and was encouraged to use her musical gifts to worship God and deliver the message of the Gospel. Influenced by her musical father, her musical style was formed by a mix of classic hymns & 4-part harmony gospel songs, a love of the more soulful styles of Andrae Crouch and the introduction of the new praise & worship music style that spread through the church world in the 70’s.

With these styles shaping her childhood, Vanessa spent her young adult years leading worship, participating in singing competitions through her church & school, and soaking up the influence of an eclectic mix of female vocalists like Sandi Patty, Cece Winans, Janet Paschal, Joy Gardner, Whitney Houston & Anita Baker.

While Vanessa’s early love for music has never diminished, her greatest desire has always been to be used by God wherever He chooses to lead. This openness to God’s plan has led her through the years into traveling & singing for evangelists like Lowell Lundstrom & Rich Wilkerson; church staff positions as Worship leader & choir director; working with CCM artist Greg Long & recording artist/women’s conference speaker, Kathy Troccoli; many years serving as a volunteer in her home church, leading worship, teaching bible studies, leading prayer groups as well as being a faithful member of the beloved Christ Church Choir where she was regularly featured as a soloist; many years as a professional singer in Nashville, TN doing both recording and live music events with artists, writers, ad agencies & publishing companies from a variety of musical genres, such as Wynonna Judd, Natalie Grant, Dolly Parton, Bob Gaudio (Jersey Boys), Bill Gaither & the Homecoming Friends, Barry Manilow, Sonicflood, Vicki Yohe, Greg Long, TaRanda Greene, Geron & Becky Davis, Regi Stone, Sandi Patty, Angie Primm,  and many more.

In 2010 after many years of ministry in the local church, Vanessa began to sense God was leading her down a new path of ministry. This was a season of great transition, miracles, and divine appointments as the Holy Spirit began to open her heart into a walk of faith into full-time music & missions ministry. Since that time, she has been to Thailand, Japan, Ireland, Myanmar, Korea, China & Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Australia, and Israel as doors have opened in this walk of faith!  *Also into some closed countries not mentioned for the sake of security. While she is open to going wherever God opens doors, the continuing music missions ministry in Japan is her main focus.

Vanessa Maddoux Ministries was formed in 2012 along with the missions-focused non-profit organization, Good Deeds International. The purpose of Good Deeds International is to both support existing humanitarian, rescue, educational, and medical relief organizations while encouraging, training, and financially supporting local leaders to continue the work into future generations. Today, with an ever-growing love for people of all nations and a passion for them to know the Truth of Jesus as their Savior, Healer, Provider, Deliverer, Redeemer, Protector, and Loving Father, Vanessa continues to use her gifts of music to open the door of the hearts of people wherever God leads.

.      Cover-proof-finalIn 2012 Vanessa recorded her first solo project since 1992, “It’s My Desire to Praise Him”, filled with the sounds of church: hymns and traditional soulful-gospel-inspired songs that take you to the altar to linger a while. Six years later, she recorded the long-awaited new cd, “Looking for a Miracle”, produced by Geron Davis and fully compiled for effective use in both the US and Japan. The album even includes a bonus track of a favorite Japanese song, “Shuo aogimite”.

“Praising God silences the enemy. Worship brings the Glory of God into a place. Those two together set an atmosphere that allows the Holy Spirit to open and prepare the hearts of those listening to receive the life-giving message of the Gospel!” ~ Vanessa

Vanessa made her home in Nashville, Tennessee from 1996 – 2021, serving as a faithful member of Christ Church under Pastor L.H. Hardwick and at Grace Church Nashville, pastored by Lindell Cooley. In March of 2021, Vanessa moved back to Texas to be near her family and continues to serve in music ministry as a worship leader at Houston’s First Baptist Church.  While the pandemic closed the doors to international travel, Vanessa returned to Japan in 2022 and is scheduled to be there again in 2024. In the Fall of 2023, Vanessa started a new season in life as a law student in Houston, looking forward to new doors God may open for her in the future with this legal tool in her hands.

Vanessa is ordained as a minister in Christian service through Grace Thru Faith Ministries.  “It is a joy to serve both the local church and the church worldwide.”
